A young barman listens as a stranger shares a story about Chanctonbury Ring, an ancient circle of trees on the South Downs with its own local folklore and myths. Told with restraint and grounded realism, the film draws on the legend that running around the ring seven times may summon the devil, where atmosphere, implication and consequence matter more than spectacle. The film features six key characters, with several appearing across different ages and points in time. Character sheets and distinct voice performances were developed to maintain continuity across appearance, performance and voice, without giving too much away to the audience.
