THE SWAMP
Official Selection — Brighton Rocks International Film Festival 2026
Built from a handful of photographs taken in the basement of The Bee's Mouth, Hove, on a single afternoon. Photographs that became the band's album cover, and the last record of them before they were gone. The Electric Song Company were a Brighton band who played a few gigs and disbanded for reasons unknown. This film is their resurrection — constructed from those archive photographs, a personal portrait, and AI used to close a ten-year gap. The central figure is Jack Strutt (Steve Hagler), an American musician who arrived in the UK on an 1980s album deal. One photograph from his twenties. Forty years of distance. AI used to bridge them. The result is a meditation on lost love and regret — the moments that slipped away and the weight they leave behind. The Swamp — The Electric Song Company. THE SWAMP
Official Selection — Brighton Rocks International Film Festival 2026
A digital resurrection of The Electric Song Company. This film was constructed entirely from a handful of photographs taken during a session in the basement of The Bee’s Mouth pub, Hove, shortly before the band disbanded. The narrative centers on Steve Hagler (aka Jack Strutt), an American who arrived in the UK on a 1980s album deal. By integrating a single portrait of Hagler from his twenties, sting studio utilized a hybrid process to bridge the decades—creating a meditation on time, memory, and the "almost-famous" past.
